Marco Orsi catches 49 inch Salmon
Osprey Marco Orsi caught a cock salmon on the Usk, September 28 which is thought to be the biggest on the river for 75 years.
Marco caught the fish of a lifetime and commented: "The river was coming down after a spate, and it took approximatly 20-25mins to land the fish. I knew it was a big fish as soon as it took off. I weighed it in the net and got a reading of 35lb, and another weighing 38lb. It had a girth of 23 inches and a length of 4ft 1inch. It took 10-15mins to revive and eventually swam away."
Marco has fished the Llangibby Estate for almost 30 years.
Up until September the salmon season on the Usk hasn't been too good, some even going as far as calling it "disastrous." September, however, was a good month.
